Terry Davidson is a graduate in Engineering from the University of Guelph (1988). Terry is Director of Regulations at RVCA where his responsibilities include operation of both the Ottawa Septic System Office and the Mississippi-Rideau Septic System Office; both are operated in partnership with neighbouring conservation authorities. Prior to joining the Conservation Authority he was employed for two years with OMAFRA in South Western Ontario. He came to the Rideau Valley as Manager of the Clean-Up Rural Beaches Program (CURB), a clean water program run in association with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Following cancellation of that program Terry assumed management of the RVCA septic approvals program in 1995 (at the time delegated from MOE). Since transfer of septic approvals to MMAH under the Ontario Building Code Terry has been active in providing advice to the Province with respect to the transfer of approvals function as well as on Code compliance issues related to site servicing. Between 600 and 800 applications are processed annually for new and replacement systems as well as repairs. He has also served as the Ottawa Coordinator of the Ontario Rural Wastewater Centre, an industry learning and training centre set up in co-operation with the University of Guelph at the Authority’s Baxter Conservation Area site near Kemptville. Mr. Davidson has been on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Onsite Wastewater Association since its inception in 1999. Terry also serves as the RVCA in-house technical expert on soils and slope stability and is regularly consulted by planning and regulations staff for technical input related to conformity with provincial standards on sites where soil or slope stability issues may arise. Mr. Davidson has also been instrumental in implementing and delivering a septic re-inspection program in several lake country municipalities in the Rideau and Mississippi watersheds. Terry has been accepted as an expert witness before the Ontario Municipal Board, in Provincial Court and before the Ontario Building Code Commission. Mr. Davidson is also active in the agricultural community serving as Chairman of the Ottawa-Carleton Environmental Farm Plan Committee since 1992. In his spare time he operates a cash crop farm in partnership with his father near Kinburn within the City of Ottawa.
